Image Guided Abdominal Mass Biopsy- How to Prepare

Prior to your image guided abdominal mass biopsy, consult with your radiologist or technologist about your current medications and if you need to stop taking any of those medications on the day of your exam. Your physician may advise you to stop taking aspirin or blood thinner for a specific period of time before your procedure.

If sedation is required for this procedure, you will be asked to fast for 6 – 12 hours prior to the exam.

Be sure to inform your radiologist or technologist of any recent illnesses and other medical conditions.

Women should always inform their radiologist or technologist if there is any possibility that they could be pregnant.
