Neck MRI- How to Prepare

On the day of your neck MRI, you should wear loose clothing and remove all metal objects, including jewelry, eyeglasses and hair clips. Hearing aids, dentures and other removable objects should be taken out as well to avoid interfering with the images during your exam.

Be sure to tell your radiologist or technologist if you have any metal screws, surgical staples or other metal in your body. You will be asked to remove all piercings if possible.

Keep taking your regular medicines prescribed by your doctor. Please inform your radiologist or technologist of any known allergies to medications. Also, let us know if you have asthma, multiple myeloma or any disorder of the heart, kidneys, or thyroid gland, or if you have diabetes before receiving a neck MRI.
