Carotid Angiogram- How to Prepare

Prior to your carotid angiogram, report all medications and allergies you are currently taking to your radiologist or technologist. You may be advised to stop taking aspirin or other inflammatory drugs, or blood thinners for a specific period of time before the procedure. Unless advised to do so, continue taking your regular prescription medications on the day of your carotid angiogram.

You should inform your radiologist or technologist of any recent illnesses or other medical conditions. Women should always inform their radiologist if there is any possibility that they are pregnant. If you are breast feeding, consult with your radiologist if a contrast material is used.
