On the day of your diagnostic breast MRI, you should wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes. You will need to undress from the waist up, so a two piece outfit is recommended. You will be asked to remove any metal on your body including piercings, and removable dentures if possible.
Prior to your diagnostic breast MRI, you inform your radiologist or technologist if any of the following apply to you have a pacemaker, any type of implantable pump such as an insulin pump, or metal plates, pins or implants that could interfere with the exam. You should also inform your technologist of any permanent eye liner or tattoos or if you are wearing a medication patch.
Be sure to use the restroom before your exam because the exam usually takes 45-60 minutes to complete.
Women should always inform their radiologist or technologist if there is any chance that she could be pregnant.
