Lung Cancer Assessment

Disclaimer: This tool is intended to be a guide only. The results of this assessment should not replace the medical advice from your physician. If you have any questions about your risk of lung cancer, you should consult your physician.

Determining Your Pack Year
Individuals can determine their pack-years by multiplying the number of years they smoked by the number of packs they smoked per day. For example:

2 packs per day for 5 years = 10 pack-years

1 pack per day for 10 years = 10 pack-years

A person reaches 30 pack-years of smoking history by smoking a pack a day for 30 years or two packs a day for 15 years and so on.
